League History
History is not the past. It is the stories we tell about the past.
- Grace Lee Boggs

The League of Utah Writers was established in 1935 when the Utah chapter of the League of Western Writers was founded (1). They were joined by existing local writers groups which started in the 1920s, such as the Barnacles and the Blue Quill Writers. The Utah chapter split off from the League of Western Writers and renamed itself the League of Utah Writers in November of 1939 (2).
