Current Needs
Chapter Liaison: Southern Region
Coordinate with the presidents of your assigned chapters to help them plan activities and collaborate with other nearby chapters. Provide a point of contact between chapter presidents and the League Executive Committee. Advise chapter presidents on best practices for meeting their members' needs. This is a League board position, so applicants must be members in good standing for longer than 6 months. Most duties can be accomplished online, but being located in or willing to travel occasionally to the St. George area would be helpful.
Time Requirement
Time Requirement: 2-4 hours per month
Inkpot Editorial Team Member
Inkpot, the quarterly publication of the League of Utah Writers, is seeking a volunteer editor to join our team. Editors review top-scoring submissions, communicate with authors, and complete two rounds of light copyediting in accordance with house style. Other responsibilities include theme selection, writing brief introductions to new editions, and sending acceptances and rejections. This role requires clear communication, proficiency in Google Drive, proficiency in the Track Changes and Comments features in Google Docs or Word, ability to meet quarterly deadlines, and a collaborative spirit. Must be able to pass a copyediting test. Experience working with poetry a plus.
Time Requirement
Approx. 5–10 hours per quarter.
Conference Technology Assistant
The Conference Technology Lead is seeking an assistant to train on the storage, maintenance, setup, and operation of all the computers, projectors, cameras, and audio equipment used at our conferences. They will work closely with the tech lead and other volunteers at two conferences every year: the Pre-Quill Conference (a Saturday-only event in March or April) and the Quills Conference (a Wednesday through Sunday in August.) Previous technology experience preferred. Troubleshooting and independent problem-solving skills a must. This volunteer will get free admission to our conferences and other exclusive perks.
Time Requirement
2 hours/month plus onsite duties at conferences
Web Archivist
Work with the Web Chair to help keep the League's site organized and maintain the event archive. No experience is required, all training provided.
Time Requirement
2-4 hours a month
Contest Committee Members
We need volunteers with strengths in communication, technology, and Canva. Contest committee work is typically busiest from May - September. All training provided.
