The League of Utah Writers is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting other writers. Therefore, the League stands in solidarity with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and their strike against unfair work and pay practices. We hope that their negotiations are successful because when unions like the WGA do well, all writers benefit.

 

During the strike, we would like to remind any writers of the League that taking any meetings or work for television or movies could jeopardize their eligibility to join the WGA in the future and could result in being blacklisted for crossing picket lines. We want to stand in solidarity, this is an opportunity for all of us to stand together, and it's not a situation to try to cynically capitalize on.

 

The League of Utah Writers hopes the strike ends quickly and working writers are back in their desks at their computers and typewriters getting paid fairly for the work they so dearly love.
