David Rodeback

After decades of writing, ghost writing, and editing, off and on, for business, politics, government, and academia, David Rodeback decided about a dozen years ago that it was time to start to learn to write fiction, which he calls "a well-traveled road to truth." Most of his fiction is contemporary realism. His two self-published collections of short fiction won 2024 Silver and Bronze Quill Awards from the League of Utah Writers and were named Notable Reads by the 2025 Utah Book Awards. In 2025 he wrote and associate-produced his second feature-length documentary film and also won his fourth Telly Award for commercial short video. He writes a monthly column for local newspapers, mostly about books, bookstores, and reading, and has become a frequent presenter at writing conferences. His first novel, a contemporary coming-of-age story, also self-published, is scheduled for release in November 2025.

David has an MA in Slavic Studies (Russian Literature emphasis) from Cornell University, a BA in Russian and Political Science from Brigham Young University, and a certificate from the Pushkin Russian Language Institute in Moscow. He taught writing and Russian language and literature courses at Cornell, BYU, and elsewhere, before landing in the software industry. He is Chief Marketing Technology Officer of a West Valley City manufacturing firm and serves on the board of the League of Utah Writers. When not working, he's usually writing or wishing he were writing, but he also enjoys reading, traveling, watching movies and TV series his four children think are old, and attending formal and impromptu concerts by the professional musicians in the family.
